Ancient warriors from a civilisation that hit its peak and has been devastated by centuries of war. Long have they battled the Scourge and been allies of mankind, helping them to seed the cradle worlds which lasted as the UCM bedrock until they could regroup. Mystical and reverent their sleek ships rip through the skies, their ground troops being delivered directly to the heart of the battle through vast networks of teleportation void gates. If you haven’t already done so please read our Which Dropfleet Faction Is Right For You? guide as that will help introduce some key concepts. And in this list we’ll start from the smallest classes up to the largest. Ratings are game-wide, so you can compare the number of stars of this faction to all others.

The ability to “hide” in atmosphere, forcing the space-only ships to hit you on a 6, is the best defence that Strike Carriers have. This alone can make them all but immune to enemy ships. The solution to this is the Corvette, with Atmospheric capable weapons specifically designed to hunt through the clouds. Their entire role is about denying enemy Strike Carriers the ability to just sit on Clusters the entire game.

    Glass |Cloudflier| 18pts

Scan Sig Thrust Hull Armour Point Def Special Abilities
    8 1 16 1 5+ 3 Atmospheric, Outlier
Weapon Lock Attacks Damage Arc Special Abilities
Ion Lances 5+ 5 1 F/S Air to Air, Close Action

The ultimate glass cannon, or glass ion lance as the case may be. With 5 Attacks and just 1 Hull Point these ships can be devastating in large numbers if deployed well. At a 5+ to hit basic they are actually slightly worse than the other primary Air to Air weapons of the other factions (them being 3A 4+ Lock, so avg 1,5 hits, vs the Glass 5A 5+ Lock, so avg 1.67 hits but no chance of a crit). But with a 16″ Thrust and a Scan of 8″ they do really well in Orbit, buzzing around and picking off the last few Hull Points required to destroy ships or put a Critical Damage roll on them. After all with just 1 Hull Point many weapons will be inefficient against them (remember a single weapon can only target a single enemy ship). Overall there are many other Shaltari ships that are far more effective, but this is not a bad choice at all, just maybe not so great in its primary role.
